Ear Posting
Tips & Tricks
We know ear posting can seem a little scary at first—but trust us, it gets easier with time. With a little practice (and patience), it becomes part of the routine. There are lots of different methods out there, but here we will share a few we like and have found helpful for getting those ears standing tall.

Traditional posting with tampons and tape:
For this method, you will need cardboard tampons, breathable athletic tape (we prefer Hampton Adams which is easily found on Amazon), alcohol or witch hazel to clean the ears, and some treats to keep your puppy's experience positive. If your puppy has an issue with shaking out their posts, please take the time to make sure you are seating the cotton part of the tampon fully into the ear. You can also use Osto-Bond or Turbot skin glue, also found on Amazon, to create a bond between the tampon and the ear. The trick to using skin glue is that you must let it dry to a tacky state before pairing the ear and the tampon together. You will need to invest in a solvent to remove the glue if you plan to use it regularly.

The zip tie method:
The zip tie method is a little more elaborate with the list of supplies, but not by too much. In this method, you will construct your own post. You will need large zip ties, duct tape, cotton balls or rounds, Osto-Bond or Torbot skin glue (and a solvent for later removal), alcohol or witch hazel to clean the ears, and treats for your puppy. When using this method, please be sure to round the ends of your zip ties so that the sharp plastic does not cut into the ear.
